Batteries/Power/Plugs
Did you know that your laptop runs at 50% performance when unplugged??
Its true....From the factory your settings are set to 50% when unplugged. The reason is two fold...
First- the power adaptor is usually 19v and the battery is 12v the simple difference should indicate it would be different
but its not as simple as that. Lithium batteries are unstable and have a limited number of cycles
in each one's life, plug, unplug, plug, unplug this back and forth eats up the life cycles, diminishing the lifespan.
The same can be said of letting the battery completely drain to zero. The laptop was designed to operate
at its top voltage/ amps and can be used unplugged for random short periods of time not depleting totally.
Second- Heat is the enemy of lithium batteries ensure your laptop runs as it is supposed to with fans running clean and free of debris
when gaming or video rendering or any high power required task be sure to adjust the fan curvature to higher speeds at lower
intervals on the temperature spectrum. Using a fan control program will alleviate this, a good free option is MSI Afterburner
However there are several from most major brands for free
Asus/MSI/Intel/Generic CNET
Third-Dell says there is no need to unplug your laptop
Asus says you should unplug and drain below 50% every second week
HP says to do it once a week
My perspective seeing the tons of dead and damaged batteries
Dell is too lack Hp is too far
Asus is the closest to extend your battery life
Keep it plugged in during heavy tasks as your cpu, gpu etc run at 50% its the reason the manufacturer says to make sure its
plugged in when you install OS.
